The Role

During this engagement, the primary client-side data platform resource will be on leave for an extended period mid-project. The Adroit team will be the sole delivery and support resource for a production GCP platform serving live business reporting. We need a DataOps contractor who has supported live data platforms before and knows what it means to hold the line when something breaks and the person who built it is not available.

Context

This is a second-line support and operational monitoring role. You will work alongside our Principal Data Engineer and Principal Platform Engineer on a rotational support arrangement during the leave period. You are not expected to architect solutions. You are expected to diagnose failures quickly, apply targeted fixes, and escalate correctly when an issue is beyond your remit.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Bullet pointProvide second-line support for GCP pipeline failures during the client resource leave period
  • Bullet pointMonitor platform health via Google Cloud Operations Suite dashboards and alerting
  • Bullet pointDiagnose and resolve Cloud Composer DAG failures, CloudRun ingestion errors, and BigQuery job failures
  • Bullet pointMaintain an incident log with root cause analysis and resolution notes for each issue
  • Bullet pointCoordinate escalation to the Principal Platform Engineer or Principal Solutions Architect for issues beyond second-line resolution
  • Bullet pointSupport the hypercare period immediately post-go-live with heightened monitoring
  • Bullet pointContribute to runbook updates based on incidents encountered during the support period

What We Need From You

  • Bullet pointHands-on GCP operations experience, including Cloud Composer, CloudRun, BigQuery, and Cloud Logging
  • Bullet pointAbility to diagnose Airflow DAG failures, identify root causes, and apply targeted fixes
  • Bullet pointExperience supporting live data platforms in a production environment
  • Bullet pointClear and concise incident communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bullet pointComfortable working within a support rota with defined escalation paths
