We are looking for a contractor at the top of their game in BigQuery and Dataform to join an Adroit delivery team on a time-critical GCP data platform migration for a major UK enterprise client. You will work alongside our Principal Data Engineer to build a production-grade BigQuery medallion architecture within a live Group GCP organisation. This engagement has a fixed go-live date that does not move. We need someone who can hit the ground running on day one.

This is not a greenfield build. You will operate within a Group-governed multi-project GCP environment, working to the client Group tooling standard. You need to know BigQuery and Dataform deeply, understand how to navigate platform-level IAM constraints you do not control, and produce clean, peer-reviewed work at pace. • Design and implement the BigQuery medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) within the client dedicated BigQuery dataset in the Group GCP production project
• Build and peer-review Dataform SQL models for Bronze-to-Silver cleansing and Silver-to-Gold Kimball DWH logic
• Collaborate with the SQL Conversion Engineer on transformation delivery and data validation
• Work with the Group Data Engineer Team on IAM access, DAG deployment, and Dataplex cataloguing
• Ensure all Gold layer datasets are certified, schema-stable, and Power BI-ready before cutover
• Support data reconciliation by validating BigQuery outputs against Azure Synapse during the 10-day parallel run
• Produce architecture documentation and Dataform runbooks as part of the engagement deliverable set

• Proven, hands-on experience designing and delivering BigQuery-based data platforms in production
• Strong Dataform proficiency, including models, assertions, incremental materialisation, and tag-based DAG orchestration
• Solid understanding of Kimball dimensional modelling, including facts, dimensions, and slowly changing dimensions
• Experience with medallion or layered data architecture (raw, cleansed, curated)
• Ability to operate within a multi-project GCP organisation with Group-level governance constraints
• Experience validating data against a legacy platform during a migration cutover
• Current Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification or equivalent demonstrable experience

• Prior experience migrating from Azure Synapse or SQL Server to BigQuery
• Familiarity with Cloud Composer (Airflow) for orchestration in Group-managed environments
• Experience with Dataplex for data cataloguing and lineage
• Power BI to BigQuery connector migration experience
