• Engagement: Confidential Client — Azure to GCP Data Platform Migration

We need a contractor who can set up a clean, well-documented CI/CD and deployment pipeline foundation for a GCP data platform at the start of an engagement and leave it in a state the wider team can operate without you. This is a front-loaded, mobilisation-phase role. The output is not running infrastructure. It is the workflows, patterns, and documentation that make every subsequent deployment controlled, auditable, and repeatable.

You will work with our Principal Platform Engineer during the mobilisation and foundation phase to establish deployment pipelines for Dataform, CloudRun, and Cloud Composer DAGs. The team taking over will not have the same context you do, so documentation is not optional. If you are a contractor who builds things properly the first time and writes runbooks people can actually follow, this role is for you.

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for Dataform model deployment, CloudRun builds, and Cloud Composer DAG releases
• Set up GCP project-level infrastructure-as-code patterns within client-managed GCP projects using Terraform or equivalent
• Establish environment promotion workflows (development to staging to production) aligned to the Group GCP project structure
• Configure deployment gates, automated tests, and rollback procedures
• Document all pipeline patterns and deployment runbooks clearly enough for the team to operate without you
• Hand over all CI/CD infrastructure to the Principal Platform Engineer with a structured walkthrough before leaving the engagement

• Hands-on GCP DevOps experience, including Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, and Cloud Source Repositories or equivalent
• Infrastructure-as-code experience on GCP, with Terraform strongly preferred
• CI/CD pipeline design for data engineering workloads, not just application deployments
• Experience deploying Dataform or dbt projects through automated pipelines
• Clear, thorough documentation habits, writing for handover rather than for yourself

• Cloud Composer DAG deployment pipeline experience in a Group-governed GCP environment
• GitHub Actions or Cloud Build trigger configuration for Dataform repositories
• Familiarity with GCP Shared VPC and IAM constraints in multi-project organisations
• Prior experience on time-boxed, mobilisation-phase DevOps engagements
