We are looking for an experienced contractor who knows how data migration reconciliation actually works in practice, not in theory. Numbers will look different between platforms. The business will be nervous. Your job is to get ahead of that by designing a rigorous parallel run, producing clear per-domain reconciliation reports, and making sure every discrepancy is investigated and explained before stakeholder sign-off is requested. If you have done this on a real migration and come out the other side with a clean sign-off, we want to talk.

You will own the 10-day mandatory parallel run. This means designing the test approach, executing row-count and aggregate comparisons per domain, and producing reconciliation reports that internal business stakeholders can sign off with confidence. This role is part-time in the early phases and ramps to full-time as the project approaches cutover in September.

• Design the data validation and reconciliation framework for the 10-day parallel run
• Execute row-count, aggregate, and key metric comparisons between Azure Synapse and BigQuery Gold layer outputs per domain
• Investigate and document any discrepancies, distinguishing GCP calculation errors from legacy platform defects
• Produce per-domain reconciliation reports to support stakeholder sign-off
• Work with the Principal Data Engineer and SQL Conversion Engineer on test coverage across all Dataform models
• Support functional testing and UAT for all ingestion pipelines and Power BI reports
• Maintain a clear issues log and communicate status and risk to the Project Manager

• Hands-on data validation and reconciliation experience in a data migration or warehouse cutover context
• Proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write validation queries across BigQuery and legacy SQL databases
• A structured, evidence-based approach to reconciliation reporting
• Experience distinguishing migration errors from legacy platform defects in reconciliation output
• Clear written communication skills, with the ability to produce reports readable by non-technical stakeholders

• BigQuery or GCP experience
• Experience with Azure Synapse or SQL Server as a source platform
• Familiarity with dbt test frameworks or Dataform assertions
• Experience working in a fixed-price, deadline-driven delivery team
