About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Network & Security Engineer with deep expertise in FortiGate firewalls to support a key client project. This role is both strategic and hands-on, combining the implementation of FortiGate within an existing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) disaster recovery environment with upskilling and knowledge transfer to the in-house engineering team.

You will lead the implementation, establish replication channels between environments, and ensure automation and best practices are embedded. This role suits someone who thrives at the intersection of design, execution, and enablement.

What You'll Do

  • Bullet pointDesign and implement FortiGate firewalls in an OCI disaster recovery site
  • Bullet pointAlign to the existing OCI primary site design for compatibility while improving automation and operational efficiency
  • Bullet pointEstablish secure and reliable replication channels between OCI and other cloud environments, including GCP where required
  • Bullet pointMove away from legacy click-ops towards infrastructure as code
  • Bullet pointLeverage automation tools, such as Terraform, to streamline firewall deployment and management
  • Bullet pointImprove DR firewall architecture with scalability and compliance in mind
  • Bullet pointProvide hands-on training and mentorship to the client’s internal team on FortiGate and related networking practices
  • Bullet pointCreate repeatable playbooks and documentation to support long-term sustainability
  • Bullet pointCollaborate closely with the client’s principal GCP engineer and wider infrastructure team

What You'll Bring

  • Bullet pointProven track record as a Principal or Lead Network & Security Engineer with hands-on implementation experience
  • Bullet pointDeep expertise with FortiGate firewalls and their automation capabilities
  • Bullet pointStrong background in enterprise networking, including L2–L4 routing, security policies, and firewall design
  • Bullet pointExperience with cloud networking, ideally across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Google Cloud
  • Bullet pointProficiency with automation tools such as Terraform or equivalent
  • Bullet pointDemonstrated ability to train and mentor teams with effective knowledge transfer
  • Bullet pointFamiliarity with regulated environments, such as ISO and enterprise or government contexts, desirable

Duration & Scope

  • Bullet pointPhase 1, months 0–3: Implement FortiGate in OCI DR, establish secure replication, and ensure compatibility with the existing design
  • Bullet pointPhase 2, months 3–6: Deliver training, knowledge transfer, and handover to the in-house team
